I want to replace the ratty looking valve covers on my 87 vert with a nice looking set of chrome valve covers. I have aluminum heads with the center bolts. I checked on E-Bay and the valve covers ALL listed 88-92 and none listed the 87. Since they are L-98 engines, whats the difference? I also have a nice set of valve covers that my son had on his 89 IROC Camaro with center bolt heads. I'm curious as to the possibility of using these. Also, if the valve covers are different are the gaskets different too. The valve covers are such a PITA to change I want to make sure I've got the right ones before I start.
The camaro valve covers will bolt up, but the breather holes are on wrong side. On the vette, the breather holes are on the left. The Camaro has them on the right. That's the only difference.
I should clarify. Camaro TPI valve covers up to '89 use the vette left hand breather hole. '90
TPI's use a right side hole. Either one will bolt right up. It's just a matter of left or right side hole.
I used these covers on my 87 I really like the way they look on the TPI L98. I had to mill holes on the upper sides for the PVC and breather but they are baffled for that.

Thanks guys for all the info. Corvette95, I think I'm going to hold on to my old valve covers in case I ever decide to make it stock again.
flordiamale, your installation really looks great. I have a set of the finned valve covers that came off of my 75 and I really like the way you installed yours. Did you have the spaces for the outside bolt holes filled in, and do you use the hole you had milled for the PVC valve to put oil in?

Have fun taking off the driver`s side cover. It was a royal PITA on my `87. I always get a big chuckle every time someone sees the hood open on my car & says "That must be really easy to work on because you can get to everything".
