Default Gas question:

Question is about my gas in tank. Is it nessesary to add stabil to my gas if I plan on using my car every couple of weeks?
I live in Chicago and with winter approaching I will not drive it very much. I do plan on taking it out on sunny, dry days to keep her parts moving and things running ok. I am guessing I will do this every 2 to 3 weeks for the next few months.
Will I need to use stabil in the gas even though I am going to do this?

let me know,
Thxs

I used to live in Naperville. I never used Stabil in any of my Vettes while living there. From what I've read that's more for cars that are in storage and locked away for months on end.

From what I heard gas is not what it used to be and that it can start to go bad in about a month. Stabil is a lot cheeper than repairs you could have for not using it.

your 84 has 'flat tappets' , not 'roller lifters'...letting it sit 3 weeks may cause 'dry start' cam lobe destruction due to normal oil run-off...pull distrib and reprime if in doubt, maybe would like a new bumpstick anyway.

been a couple of years since we went thru the 'stabil' discuss, but feeble mind can remember that stabil causes more probs than cures...major outboard motor mfr (name same as distant planet) did pack a gas stabilizer/fungus retarder (fungus is a prob in oil/gas mix) that worked very well, DNK if they still sell it.

I've never use it in any of my vehicles and I have let them sit for a month at a time. My vette, my PU and previous vehicles.

If I were to store it I would fill it up and maybe put some in but I would for sure put heat in it to help with water and condensation.
