Keep in mind if using the diagram supplied by BBA, that there are differences between your '86 and the '90 or later pictured here.

Fixed!!!!
Thanks to all for help. I checked all the wires one more time and then bolted on the replacement motor with all other components the same. It now works fine. Washer, Pulse, low, and high. It must have been something in the motor wiring that caused the short.
One note: It all worked fine without bolting it up. I bolted everything in and had an int. problem of only high speed. I bolted it up pretty tight so I loosened the bolts just a little to take off some pressure and fingers crossed, Good to go.
