What year/ engine?
The L98's that yours appears to be ( has oil cooler above filter ) had the oil temp sensor in the block above the oil filter.
Is there a sensor in that position?
LT1's had a oil level sensor in the position you show. Maybe someone swapped oil pans and left the sensor in as a plug?

That should be the oil level sensor (Low oil light). If the Gen 1 blocks are like the LT1 blocks your oil temp sensor should be right above your oil filter. I think I may be able to see the corner of the connector in the upper right portion of that picture.

Also.... once again assuming the 91 is similar to the 92 , this sensor will function for both your analog gauge as well as your digital gauge. (Its a 3 pin connector).

Mine recently got a little flaky so I had to crawl under the car and make love to the damn thing. The insulation on the wiring had become very brittle from the heat from the exhaust. The crumbled and quit working. Your car will actually throw a code if it doesn't see any input from this sensor for 20min or so. Anyway to make a long story short you can buy both the sensor and the pigtail (if it needs replaced) from Napa.

Nope, that's an oil level sensor.

Not sure about the L98, but on an LT1 the oil temp sensor is in the block just above the oil filter.
