Its the 2.59 gears, and the torque converter. I have the stock convertor and these same gears and have to power brake to spin..Once the rpms get up a little it goes like a bat outa hell.Different years had different stall rates...WW

My 85, bone stock on new Kuhmo 712's, and on GS-C's had no problem spinning both tires from a standstill, and I mean, smoke...etc

Powerbrake it and it would spin em as long as you were in the gas...

Id imagine, a 91, with the same basic engine, but with a better ECM, more overall power, should melt the tires off if driven right.

Does a 91 have ASR?
you have better gear and higher stall. I still say bang for the buck would be gears and long tubes.. then, let the modding begin

I can say that my 91 will spin the tires plenty. Auto 2.59 gears and not 1 performance part bought for it. I firmly believe that there is something wrong with your stock tune, injectors, knock sensor, timing, ect. You just need to find someone to diagnois and repair. Do you think that Chevy sold a corvette in 91 that would not spin the tires? Allot of people go strait to spending money on mods that if their car was running right they would not need or want. You have to sort out the wheat from the chaff. Good luck with your car, you get it right and you will enjoy it, and be able to get good MPG.

My 96 bone stock will spin easy. Also check for vacuum leaks.

IMHO wheel spin is an extremely poor indicator of power...depends way too much on the tires

For Example:

My stock 1989 auto with performance axle when new hooked reliably......7 years later still stock with original Goodyear Gaterbacks tirespin was scary

Nice hard rubber of a 7 year old tire doesn't hook very well..

My 2 cents.
Vigilante 2500 stall converter and 3.07 gears. This will light your tires up. But first and foremost, tune your engine with cap/rotor/plugs and wires at a minimum.

110%.
Wheel spin in my book, is more of an indicator of power band, vs power output.

Except for when you have 2 of the same cars one will and the other will not.
