Default 84 hood on later model??

I purchased a hood on e-bay recently, described as having a small hole in the drivers side and fitting all C4's. I made the 1,000 mile round trip Friday after work and all day Saturday. When I finally saw the hood, I found the damage was a little more than a little hole and upon moving it and seeing the underside, I noticed it was an 84 hood, obviously made for the "Crossfire Injection System".
My Question is this..........
Although the hoods design makes more room over the engine than the later model hoods, I see no reason it wouldn't work on a 1987. Does anyone know of any other reason I can't use it??? Is there a market for the 84 hood? Might it be farily easy to sale and then buy the later hood?

That hood has the CAI for the Cross Fire. Yours has that Snorkel for Cold air.

I'm not certain if that CAI box will hit the top of your intake or not. Sure is a lot of work for the wrong hood.

It if fits, now you'll be looked upon as a lowly '84 driver. Let me tell you from experience, even later C4 drivers snub me and forgo the wave. It's sad not getting a wave from C5s and C6s...now add the later C4s to that list...

...Ok all that is an embellishment of sorts.

If it fits and the hole is Fixed correctly.....to borrow a term....RACE ON!

Ahem!
I don't think any one can tell a 1984 hood from anything later, from the outside. I do expect you will have to remove or modify some of the duct at the very front of the hood for clearance with the your radiator shroud, air cleaner and hose to your TB. (not borrowed)

RACE ON.

Lol...

And you know it makes no difference the percentage....if any percentage of his car is '84....then it's a lowly '84......and not to be trusted further and allowed to commingle with the rest....

The 84 will not clear your later model air cleaner assembly that goes over the radiator. The 84 has a double wall plenum opening there that is the intake for the ducting in the hood and it makes the hood essentially 2" thicker there.

Look at the bright side here....the OP was able to "tour" 500 miles of Texas during the one and only "snow day" Texas will experience.

Think of how much fun it was to drive the highways of the Lone Star State and see all the white stuff.......
