Another Oil Pump Question

I'm installing a Canton oil pan on a '95 LT1. I got a new pickup with the pan that I need to install into the stock oil pump and I don't know how to get the pickup tube out of the oil pump cover plate. I thought it was just a press fit, so I tried to yank it outta there and it didn't even begin to budge. Also, once I remove the old pickup, how do I put the new one on?? I was going to use a oil pump pickup installation tool from Autozone, but the new pickup tube doesnt have a lip on it that the tool presses on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bolt the pump back on the block, and wiggle it off.
The canton pick up gets tapped on. Notice the welded little piece of metal on the tube. That is there so you can tap it in with a hammer.

Along those lines, I have a Melling Select 10555 pump and I'm not sure which Canton pickup works with it. It looks like it will take a bolt on or 3/4 inch press fit unit. Any help would be appreciated.

I bolted the pickup back on the pump, gave it a wiggle and a few light taps with a hammer and it popped off. Thanks!
