Default Code 43 Question

I am a relative newbie with a code question. My '90 L98, with 65k miles is showing code 43 on both the ECM and CCM readouts and missing on one cylinder. I've replaced plugs, wires, dist cap and rotor without pos result. Injectors all seem to be pulsing. I'm trying to avoid replacing good components with shots in the dark, tho will do if its the likely culprit. Would appreciate any suggestions from the old hands out there. Thannks...

Check your knock sensors for grime, oil, grease, etc... build up. The acoustic couplers (listening devices) are really senstive and if they're caked in grime it can affect them negatively.

Also, remove your Electronic Spark Control (ESC) Module and check it for voltage and continuity. It's located on the blower motor on the passenger side of the car.

Sounds like you might have one bad injector - measure their resistance, should be about 12 ohms. Less than 10 ohms or so should be replaced. And 90s do not have an ESC module - the spark advance is controlled by knock detector's input to the ECM. And, the code 43 is most likely NOT the reason for the miss on one cylinder. Refer to the FSM for the trouble shooting tree for code 43.

If the injector resistance checks OK, run a compression test; there might be a weak cylinder.

And since you replaced the wires, make sure they are connected correctly at the distributer.

Also, there is no CCM code 43 for the 91 L98 car so I don't think the 90 has one either.

Hi. Just thot I'd let you know... I checked the ohms on my injectors today (12/11) and they all fell between 16.9 - 17.2. So at least I can rule them out for now. Thanks again...
