Anyway, I'm looking for a "Local" company who someone may suggest that is good with what they do and have the luxery to see the finished product before acceptance.
Looking in the MD, NoVA corridor for recommendations, Anybody?

Swain I would think the preferred or someone that used similar application procedures. Swain's website is educational.
Here's a link to their exhaust coating: http://www.swaintech.com/store.asp?pid=10969
This might be one area where you "gets what you pay for"!!
I've had interesting conversations with HPC regarding a "Power Effects" system system that I'd like coated.

One or the other would/will do mine and I see no reason to be concerned that you'll have a problem getting "your parts" returned!
Both are what I'd consider "local"! New York - North Carolina
I don't know that they do ceramics but their other work is spoken of quite highly. A friend used them for frames and has been quire happy.
I've had things done by them but many years ago. They're quite serious about industrial projects these days and the automotive "small parts" isn't as serious a business as it once was with them!
My fear is them getting lost somewhere in transit/shipping or boogered up once done from shipping since these are no longer made (Watsons) and would have a hell of a time finding another set if they had to be replaced. I've had things delivered hanging out the side of boxes from some of the rough treatment during shipping and even though insurance is a must, the headaches you have to deal with afterwards is enough to make someone want to go postal on someones azz.
Last major ordeal with shipping was a set of original 69 Corvette side exhaust covers, paid good money for um, they were mint before they were shipped, they arrived in a box that looked like a friggin linebacker had tackled them, box was bent all to hell, inside the covers were in about 20 pieces. Took 6 months to get my money back from UPS after they denied the claim about 4 times, talk about frustrating!
See why I don't really want to ship?

I've got a box that I've shipped 3 Dana 44's in and I've always insisted in the sale that the box be returned. I also had a box that I've shipped I believe 4 C4 tops in and had it returned. The last sale went to the west coast and I didn't ask it's return. I've never had a C4 top arrive with any damage! Your packaging should get you beyond the shipping problems!
I've shipped an assembled and welded B & B (inlets, x-pipe and under axle pipes) to Switzerland. Arrived "A-okay"!!
I'd be more concerned with the fellow whose going to be doing the preparation of the headers for the coating! The "wrong guy" on the nozzle is likely to do more damage than maybe the shipper!
My luck hasn't been that great with shipping. Last year I bought an original 69 L-88 hood from a guy in California who had purchased it from a dealer in 1969.
He had it all those years and decided to sell it off since he no longer had a need for it. This one was super nice, correct air box chamber and has a reinforcement in the center of the hood cowl section, the real deal. I decided to fly out to Vegas for the Barrett~Jackson Circus last year and I made a special trip to Cali to crate up the hood and ship it while I was there. I built a crate for it out of 2x4's and 1/2" sheet plywood, the crate alone weighed close to 75 lbs. Inside the crate I anchored the hood at all 4 mounting points front and back so it would make the trip, wrapped in quilts in case it somehow came loose. Shipped it off and made it back to Maryland just 2 days before the hood did. After it arrived at my residence, (shipper dropped it off in the driveway and skedaddled without a signature), I came home from work and un-crated it to find some ahole had ran a forklift blade through the bottom of the crate, slid between the planks and sliced or poked a hole on the top of the hood on the left side where the cowl part starts to rise. Now I spent $100 to build a crate myself (I used to be in warehousing so I know how to build crates) that would make the trip but it was no match for some bonehead making $8.00 an hour driving a forklift who didn't give a rats AZZ about some $1,500 hood that wasn't his.
Shipper wanted to give me .75 cents per pound to settle on the hood since it was used even though it was Insured it for $1,500!
5 months later I was able to get $700 out of them Sons of Beaches and I got to keep the broke hood with a big azz hole in it.
Man I hate shippers with a passion!
Sounds like you've had a lot better luck then me with shipping.
I've been shipping things for over 25 years and have lost about 20% of what I shipped or what was shipped to me to damage or lost shipments.
Think I'll go get some VHT high heat paint and spray em and call it a day.....
Do they or will they? A phone call or maybe a quick email! They're an H-D vendor and do Alumina Ceramic coatings. They may receive enough requests that even if they don't or won't they could likely refer you to a "local"!!
I'd be interested in their response! My "Power Effects" could maybe ride along. I've a set of LT5 headers that I've considered having redone.

Coating is still on the pipes after 4 years after many autobahn runs and bad weather...
they also coat frames and other suspension parts. When you walk in they have parts of frames, A-arms and other pieces hanging as a display. Showing colors, etc...
