OK this is wierd, Last sunday I got the car out & took a top down cruise w/my wife, the thing worked as it always has. Wed I got it out only instead of 70 it was about 45 in temp(tx for ya) and the thing wouldnt shift out of 1st gear! Fluid level was fine and bright red and didnt smell odd. I worried about it the rest of the day - then after work I got in it again and it worked fine and I have been driving it every day just to see if it does it again, hasent yet. Anyone had this happen? It is an 88 L98 700R4 with less than 40k, I am owner #2 and I called owner #1 and he said tranny fluid has never been changed and this never happened to him. (It's funny I call him only w/ my problems and he still wants the car back!)

Sounds like some trash got hung up in the govenor.
I think I would service the fluid and filter. Hopefully nothing more is messed up, but don't be scared of a little metal in the pan...all auto transmissions will accumulate that.
