'93 C4 (excellent condition) getting SYS message flashing 3x every 15 seconds right where fuel range indicator normally is. Any ideas?

Noticed today for first time..might have something to do with the fact I had to jump the battery this morning due to the fact I hadn't driven it in a while?

It could be a low battery...

Sys flashes when there is a stored code that relates to a feature that does not have its own warning light.

The way to know for sure is to read the codes.

Thanks-dumb question, does that mean get a diagnostic check from the dealer?

It means you probably need a new battery. SYS flashing means the CCM has detected a problem. Seems that 99% of the time it is a weak or defective battery.

But never pay someone to read your car's stored codes until you've exhausted the paperclip method.

The 2 times I have had this happen since 02' it has been the battery.

Check water in battery(people never do this anymore) and charge battery w/terminals disconnected(connected terminals can burn up your ECM or other electronics), low charge can cause the SYS flashing and check the codes.

Use distilled water if low.Have local parts store clear code for you & if comes back on(sys light),use paperclip method & let us know the code that is stored.Like someone else said it may just be a low charge or bad battery

I had this problem recently when I accidently left the courtesy lights on overnight. I after getting a jump I also charged the battery and the "SYS" message went away. If you get this message after have charged the battery the battery is not able to hold a charge.

It means you should stay as far as possible from the Dealer (stealer) and go to an auto parts store and have your battery load tested. Usually its free.

More than likely, you only need a new battery. Its an easy install. Do a search for "battery install".
