Default 90 tach filter location?

I bought on from a member here since my 90's tach wigs out. I have heard its mounted to a bellhousing bolt but I can not find it anywhere on this car nor a wire it would have been connected to.

When I bought this car the previous owner had said the trans was rebuilt about a year prior so it's possible this filter never got put back in. So where would it have been originally so I can see if this is my tach's problem.

The tack filter plugs into the distributor. You will see 2 plugs on the right side of the distributor at the bottom of the cap. One of them (on mine its the white one) is the tach filter plug, follow this wire and the tach filter will be inline before it goes back to the tach in the dash..It will either look like a small silver barrel or if its a newer version it will look like a black 3 inch tube with wires coming out the top. Most Corvette parts sites have them..Look below....WW

I took the filter out that I bought and your description is about how this thing would attach. It does have a connector for the distributor cap haver it also has another square one at the other end of the filter. My car has a single red wire going to the tach feed and it runs off somewhere .... So where in the harness would the other end of this filter have plugged into?

On my 85, it was on a stud in the back of the driver side cylinder head, had to hold 1 nut and turn a nother nut to get it loose...

well I traced the red wire and it appears the previous owner soldered this red wire to the terminal that originally plugged into the distributor cap.

I thought about why they did this and then quikly stopped thinking to avoid getting another headache from this previous owners tampering with stuff.
