Default Machine Work in So. Cal?

Hey guys,

I'm just wondering if anyone knows of a good place to get a port and polish/port matching job in Southern California, preferably in the San Fernando Valley.

It's not actually for my Covette. I have a Cobra replica with a Chevy 502 450/550 crate engine which was a replacement for a 454 that I blew. I was thinking of putting the 454 parts on it: Edelbrock Performer RPM heads and Intake manifold. So I was wondering if anyone knew of a place that could put that package together properly.

This might not be the exact right forum for this, but if anyone has any info or advice, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

Robin. :smash:

There is a place called Valley Head Service in Northridge.

I have thier card number is 818 993 7000.

I dont know much about how good they are. I saw one of thier heads at a super chevy show which was extremly hogged out, so I took a card.

Yeah, they were one of the places I was considering. I'll give them a call on Monday and see if the guy knows what he's talking about. But hopefully someone around here has had experience with some place.

I might call up Guldstrand and find out who they use. I guess I'm not in much of a hurry anyway. The 550ft/lbs are plenty for the driving and autoXing I do, but I figure as long as I have the parts might as well use them.

Thanks for the reply.

Robin.

Welcome to the forum :)

Does it have to be SoCal? How about Exotic Muscle here in AZ? What about AFR? Think they might port them? Give 'em a call at 818-890-0616
... or perhaps they know somebody local to you. http://www.airflowresearch.com/

I'll try giving AFR a call. Do they do machine work on other brand heads? They're in my area code, so I figure I'll give 'em a try.

Thanks.

Robin.

Not sure... but they are close to you and obviously reputable. If not, they probably know a good local machinest that can help you.

A friend of mine recently had a lot of machine work done on his L98 rebuild at Superior Automotive, in Anaheim. They do really meticulous work and have been featured in quite a few magazine articles.
