I was planning on going to E-Town today but because of the weather decided not to take the trip. What is the best way to launch my car, it is a 95 vert. with an auto? Should I leave the trac. on or off? Brake Torque? I wanted to get an idea of what it will run before I do any mods. Let me know what your experiences are thanks...
Turning off the ASR will shave .1-.2 from the times so leave it off. Don't stomp the throttle to the floor but roll into it somewhat agressively. Tire spin is not good, just looks cool. If running street tires don't do a burnout in the bleach box. That is for drag radials and such. Hot street tires just slide even more. Stock and not tuned-up for max power or touched you might get around 13.9x and higher if a really good driver. Othewise you will be in the 14's like me. :D
Keep in mind that at e-town they are strict with the rules normally. So if you run a 13.9, they might kick you out if you do it a 2nd time. Depends on their mood for that day. A convertible is not NHRA legal without rollbar or a hardtop if you are going 13.99 or faster.
Well i leave the asr on for better traction.. Then i put it in nuetral and rev it till its in the red and drop that puppy to first gear for the best holeshot.. :hat

:yesnod:
Best way is this, do a dry burnout and roll out while you are still smoking them and the heated tires will pick up some of the sticky stuff off teh track, then when you stage, leave as the 3rd yellow is coming on.
I leave my right foot on the brake and completely off the gas. When that 3rd yellow comes, I then move my right foot and floor it. Today with that procedure I got a 1.95 60' time with no tire spin at all. This is with 2.59 gears. My Michelin Pilots stick better than any other street tire I've seen.

Of course, you'll want to leave ASR off.
Hey Mr Mojo,
I think you have a line lock but is it possible to do the burnout with out a linelock and not hurt the car?

Yes, but be careful about bumping off the rev limiter.
With street tires, you dont want to heat up too much anyway.
My first 100 passes, I didn't have a line loc and I still managed some pretty good times doing dry rolling burnouts on the street tires.
