Can someone help with this please.
My service engine soon light came on after a run on Sunday.
The light now stays on after start up.
The engine runs but not as well as before the light came on.
The car is a 1992 LT1.
I have tried to diagnose the problem by shorting the 2 pins on the DLC connector (12-pin)
I get the DTC 12 sequence and after that I get a "flash" pause "flash" "flash" "flash" "flash" "flash" sequence. does this mean 15?
or am i doing the diagnostic wrong somewhere.
I do not have a scan tool.
Any help welcome.
Cheers,
Nick. (uk)
Oh, now I see what you mean. Yours is a 92; mine is a 96 so our systems are different.
However, on my 1986, yes, that would mean 15. Did you look up that code to see what it represents?
You can also try disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds or a little longer to clear the code, then re-start the engine to see if it returns. Sometimes codes are intermittent and clearing may help, if only for a while.
If the code returns you'll have to look it up. I only have two Factory Service Manuals - A1986 and 1996, so I'm not confident that my books will show the correct code listings for your year.
Maybe someone who has a 92 will chime in to help better.

West Point ROCKS! Nation's TOP COLLEGE per Forbes Magazine!! Graduation Day Parade 20 May 2010!!!
Code 15 on your 92 indicates the engine coolant sensor (in the water pump) reads too low. Start by inspecting the wiring connector carefully. With the key in the on position one of the two wires should have 5 volts, the other wire is the signal wire that returns to the ECM.
