Default Rear seal question

Does the oil pan have to be removed in order to remove the rear seal housing?

BTW its a 93 LT1

No. Just remove the transmission.

Are you sure you have a rear main seal leak?
Could it be coming from your intake or the back of your valve covers?

yes its a slow but sure leak. But it comes from behind the housing. And I just took out the rear main seal but there is another one behind the housing. And there appears to be to bolts that go through the oil pan. And It also seems that I do infact have to remove the oil pan to get the housing off.

That sucks. Normally the paper gasket behind the adapter doesn't leak, and levering out the old seal from the housing is sufficient.

You can loosen the bolts and lean down the rear of the pan, without totally removing it.
