THANKS!!
not to deter you from modding the stock lt1 manifold but have you looked into the TPIS mini ram, virtually identical to the lt1 manifold, plug and play, no mods, definitely more pricey though, im very happy with mine and even without doing the cam and headers yet. a huge improvement
The distributor is not standing straight up in a SBC. It's at a small angle, so the spacer that you have made to make up for the lower height of the LT1 manifold must accommodate that or it would leak like crazy.
I have a converted LT1 to L98 manifold. Distributor hole drilled and has a bushing in place. All of the holes were drilled and machined on a mill. $300
I also have a 58 mm Lingenfelter billet throttle body for it also. $200
I decided to go LS1 so I'm not going to use these parts. I have the fuel injection rails to go with the manifold too.

Pics I took of the LT1 manifold I bought from a Forum member to replace my 91 L98 intake. I painted it Chevy engine blue as the exterior of the car was blue.
I was misdiagnosed with a life-ending disease as I was nearing the end of this project. I returned it to stock and sold the LT1 intake and sold the car along with my truck and most of my tools. I was clearing the decks so my family would not be stuck with a lot of stuff to sell.
Fortunately for me, I am still alive and kicking and have moved from Michigan to somewhere warm.
I learned how to do this modification from a lot of Google searches. There are a lot of Camaro L98 owners who have done this and posted scads of information on their forums.

Get a regular SBC intake gasket , put it on the LT1 intake and you can see the differences in the hold down bolt pattern.Mark and drill
I did this many years ago when there weren't so many choices out there. You can save money by doing it yourself with just hand tools. For the distributor just make a template from your old manifold. Doesn't have to be perfect, just close. I made the spacer using hole saws and a right angle grinder to get the angle on it. Go slow and do lots of measuring. I drilled and tapped the rear for coolant and installed the remote thermostat housing between the water pump and throttle body. I ran the hoses under the fuel rail covers. Cut a couple of inches off the top radiator hose and it fits great. Been using this for over ten years now with no problems.
