1.6:1 rockers
I have been thinking about installing a set of 1.6 rockers on my 89 L98. I was just wondering if any of you have installed these on a similar engine, and if so what kind of performance gains did you see. The rockers I am looking at are from GM performance parts and they sell for $300.00 a set.

I have heard on the L98 its better to go wiht a 1.6/1.5 mix. But the LT1 likes 1.6 all the way around. But you can gain I belive 10-15 hp :confused: I havent installed mine yet still waiting on extra parts for the new heads. Check with Nathan Plemons or Glock94 they have had theres for a while but with the LT1 I dont know anyone wiht the L98.

BTW, to L98 Punk, I did so many other mods at the same time as my 1.6RR's, that I couldn't qualify an accurate answer. One thing is for sure: my L98 pulls very hard now.

TPIS "Insider Hints" says that 1.6s on the intake are worth about 10-12hp; 1.6s on the exhaust side don't give any gain but effect idle.
I installed 1.6:1 ProMagnums on int & exh. The idle is maybe even smoother than with stock rockers. I was having knock count problems at the time so don't have time slip data to verify results, but I think 10hp gain is reasonable.
Also I installed new valve springs & seals, tossed the oil shedders, installed Ti retainers & 10deg locks with 7/16" studs to raise my safe rev limit.
You should at least do new valve springs too.
