Can a bad TC cause knock?
I am wondering if I was picking up knock from my torque converter being bad. The range at which the engine car used to shutter was where I got the most knock so I'm wondering if the knock sensors were picking up the bad TC instead of actual knock.

I guess we'll see when I get the car back and it has a good torque converter. Hopefully all that knock will be gone (with octane booster in the gas of course :rolleyes: ).

Yep, here's how
The bolts that hold your flex plate to your TC can loosen. This will cause a knock sound that can range from a rod(s) to spark knock. Easy to check (kinda) just pull of the thin aluminum TC cover and check the bolts. Someone will have to bump your starter to allow you to get them all. CAUTION: pull your IGN fuse so she won't start on you. Gets very noisy and hot under there if you're caught by surprise. Mine were loose along with two of the bell housing to tranny bolts.

well.. my cat was rattling... making lots of noise.. and my TC was out of balance causing a very big shutter. I don't think I ever got noise from the TC.
