Default Does anyone own this exhaust?

I'm looking in to buying this, but I haven't been able to find anything about it or anyone who has it installed.

Comments/opinions/etc about this exhaust are welcomed. Thanks!

I bought the dual stainless set for my l98 and I like it a lot.

You have an lt1 which has pretty good exhaust already. I would only do it if you have no emmissions or want stainless.

i had a similar setup for my 85, but without the "h" pipe. i wish someone would go the extra mile and manufacture that system with "mandrel bends". seems to me that it would be a whole lot better - ???. i have a mandrel bent front y-pipe on my 90, and its a true 2.5" pipe from start to finish. i'd be willing to bet that my stock pipe was no more than 2", at best, at the bends. the subject exhaust system is probably no better than 2" at the bends either... ???

Without mandrell bends dont go for it. Think outside the box. I called flowmaster and ordered peice 1 of 2 off of them and just got the piping because i already had the mufflers. I ordered a pipe set off of and lt1 car with the resonator added some pipe had it welded and bingo it was done. There is extremely inexpensive ways to do a wicked exhaust. you just have to look

So this isn't any good? My alternative route was to weld an x pipe in place of the center resonator and buy lt1 muffler eliminators. Would I be better off with that route? What do ya'll recommend for 2 3/4+ exhaust system that will provide me with the highest gains possible from a catback and sound mean as hell? Loudness isn't an issue

IMO if your car is stock you could get away with removing the cat and putting an xpipe or h pipe and still be fine. I don't think on an lt1 you would notice much difference in power, but the sound would be, because of the mufflers and cat.

unless yours is rotted I would modify yours.

Wonder how loud a system like this would be on an L98 with TPIS Longtubes?

Try going to a custom muffler shop and have them replace the mufflers with straight pipes. I got mine done for like $40. It was pretty loud after that. The one thing I didn't like was the overall tone, especially when accelerating. So I replaced the stock resonator with a magnaflow dual in/out. Now I have a street cruiser that keeps the peace, but at throttle scares away all ricers, mustangs, and f-bodies. The magnaflow piece was under $100.

I like the sound of that. I see that you have an lt4, does that have the same factory exhaust system as the lt1? If you've dyno'd since those changes, what were the gains like? Did the magnaflow center res quiet it down at all and did u get the one with the built in x pipe before the res? Sorry for all of the questions, I'm extremely anxious to get to work on this car. Got some goodies for it today

Systems are the same. No dyno done, but I doubt any gains were more than very moddest. I was just looking for a certain sound. I would not say it "quieted" it as much as it just removed some of the more annoying sounds. The tone is a little deeper and more solid of a sound, but it pretty much screams at 5,500+ rpm. I know that I get alot of compliments on it from the car crowd. I couldn't tell you what it sounds like outside the car because I'm always in the driver's seat.

I read earlier in the magnaflow thread for our cars that the MF center res actually causes more resonance and people are cutting it out and just leaving the x. Is your car pretty loud with this setup?

The part # is 12468. Check it out on the mangnaflow site. I got mine from summit. As far as resonance goes, this has not been my experience. If you check out the part, you find that it is more of a muffler than anything else. The x-pipe is integrated inside and has a really wide flow space, it flows well. I wonder if some don't experience resonance as a result of improper installation. Some things to watch for are the case touching the seatbelt bolts for one. The other important note is that the tips need to be about 1/4 inch beyond the bumber and pointed down. Also that the hangers are properly installed with the rubber pieces to absorb vibration.

That said, there are those too that are simply disappointed because they were hoping that the sound would be louder outside but still stock quiet inside. This is impossible unless you spend a ton of money on dynamat. But I can say that I can talk to a passenger with ease, hear my stereo just fine, etc. Now, when I get on it, I can't really hear the passenger screaming for their life which to me is a good thing.

Default Chambered Exhaust

That system pictured is the Chambered Exhaust system from Corvette Central. I bought one about 3 years ago, and had it put on my 94 coupe. I'm very satisfied with it. Sounds good at idle, also at WOT. Has a nice little burble when backing out...and best of all NO resonance!
Sound is similar to the Sting Rays with the factory side exhaust.

I use this system to replace a set of Flowmasters that were on the car when I got it. I called them "Dronemasters"....resonance at cruising speed would drive you nuts

Thats got to be loud without mufflers, I have an LT1 and put in a x pipe and magnaflows out back and it really sounds mean, low rumble at idle screaming at WOT and yet at cruising speed the sound of power, also burbles on back off, very happy with the set up.

How were u able to weld the 3" MF res to the 2.75" piping?

Ya, the one I posted is the straight pipe, but I've also looked at the chambered kit. I love the sound, but from what I've seen, the bends look like they really choke flow. Have u dynoed with them?

I want that same setup but with an x pipe welded in in place of the res . Is your setup pretty loud?

[/QUOTE]

My system is a little louder than stock. It has more of a raspy sound. Not deep like the B&B catback. I have a set of Jett Hot shortie headers with OEM cats and it does have some burble when she's in the open loop (cold start up). It sounds great when you play with the fun pedal. I put the equivilent to an "H" pipe aft of the resonator. Not much resonance at all.
