I am going to install a Hurst 6 speed shifter in my 94. Any comments on installation ease and time. Also, my car has the reverse lockout. Will this be a problem with the hurst ?
Shifter installs can go smoothly from 1-3 hours time, or they can be a PITA and gor for quite a bit longer. The best thing I could recommend when doing this is another set of hands ready to help!
The installation of the Hurst is a little tedious. You don't want to drop anything down the shifter hole or you'll have spent more time fishing for it than doing the installation. The small parts are installed on your workbench once the shifting armeture is removed. The zip ties to re-install the rubber boot were too short so I had to use my own. All in all it's not that bad of a job as long as you take it slow and careful...
Here is a URL with pics from my install. Took about 4 hours with two people for me. It removes the reverse lockout, still really doesnt matter that much I found. I thought the hardest part was getting the wire ring out of its groove. The instillation all in all was pretty easy.
ZrChris and I did the install on mine. It should take about 2 hours. If you have B&B exhaust it has to come off. I think if you have stock exhaust it does not have to be dropped. I love the shifter. :yesnod:
