1985 Vibration
I'm having a problem with a vibration when i accelerate My 85, with auto. trans.When cruising speed is attained, it is fine.It dose not seem so bad during hard acceleration.I just drove the car from Md. to Ct. last week, and before leaving. Md., I had the tires removed from mag wheels, to the factory wheels, and naturally, balanced. None of the wheels, took an excess amount of weight, and tires were returned to original positions.My first thought, was the wheels, but after talking with previous owner, He said he noticed a slight vibration, with the mag wheels.I hav'nt had a chance to check any of the drive line yet, and was just currios, if there is any common problem with year Vette.Any suggestions, or ideas, would be greatly appriciated.

Could be the wheel bearing hubs. Jack up the car and grab the tire at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock then pull it in and out then push at 12 while pulling at 6. If there is noticible movement replace them. Easy to replace the fronts; the rears are another story.

I got a similar problem with mine. I've got a lot of miles so, it could be any number of things. I did the wheel balance thing at 2 different shops on different machines, but no luck. I have a tendency to believe it is the wheel bearings, but I'm replacing some other things along the way too:
Shocks
U Joints
Bushings
Wheel Bearings
That should about cover most of the areas. I should be done by the end of the month with the upgrades, so I'll see if that works.
