Sounds like a parts car to me. Your pics were so small you cant see any of the damage. Maybe post them here in your thread. They will be bigger.

i sopose your right its sad that such a good car would get taken out by this but it just may be the realitly of it
i dont see a manage attatcments button for adding photos maybe cause im new to the forum ??
it dont look that bad but it will be complicated to rewire 3ft or so of everything going to the fuse block putting the dash back together and air ducks on that side are not that big of a deal but
does anyone know who parts these cars out
i could use the cash like anyone right now can

Sounds like a project you would have to do yourself. Labor may be very costly here with unknown electrical gremlins.
Ive got a fuse block from a 85 ill sell for $25 shipped,it has enough wire to reattach it to your wires(6in or so)
You need to pull the dash and see how bad it really is,you may need to find a wire harness if its all melted-either way you will only know when you pull the dash

i have a 85 complete dash harness and that fuse block only has 2 relays i need three
i have pulled the dash it looks more intimidating then it probly is
thanks for the offer
i did but from snap on a tool that will pop the connectors out of the fuse block i just have not figured out which one it is
i think i might just give it a shot one day and fix it
I had an old camaro that caught on fire as well, But it was not at the fuse block, It was under the hood.. I ended up fixing it.. Mine was not that bad tho as all I needed to change was the engine harnesses... Sorry to hear that happened to you...

yea i would have had that fixed already i can re use the fuse block i have it barley got it theres about 10 15 wires i need to re do really but the dash light always came and went
would it be a total sin just to put all conventinal gauges in there and just do away with cluster
just thinking what might be easer for me i built plenty of stock cars not near the wiring this car had every option so theres a lot of wires under there lol
Track down the factory wiring diagrams for your year car. I cant remember if they are in the factory service manual or the electrical supplement, but they should be be fold out sheets. It is going to be very tedious work. How bad was the fire? Was it just the fuse box section or the rest of the dash harness? Lots of these cars are being parted out everyday so you should be able to find a dash harness, I just got one off ebay for fairly cheap. Take good pictures of everything and I am sure people will help you out. I will probably replace the dash harness on my 86 in a couple months when the weather get warmer, so I am curious to see how someone else goes about it.

we got most of the wires fixed now
i need a wireing diagram better then the hayes manual any clues as to where or who would have the factory one
plus this car being a coupe even with it being a 86 it has a 93 fuse block in it
help if ya can
I rewired the entire dash, it's doable and not that bad, mind you I stripped out the useless stuff while I was in there for a less complicated system (no more VATS, no more door chime, no more automatic courtesy lights, etc). Took me about a month to do in between classes at university. FSM is KEY.
Just read your last post good on you, I do believe Agent86 has PDFs of the FSM.

i am leaning more towards moving away from the digitial dash and go mechanical like you have
what would changing over do to my re sale value
I didnt care about resale so I never thought of it, it's pretty simple to do and Painless Performance sells a kit for dash gauges that worked amazingly well
