Default L98 Cam selection question

Hi, need to put a new cam in my 89 L98. Motor is stock except for Hypertech Thermomaster power chip. I don't know if I should stick with the stock cam. As I understand, that the big breathing restriction is the intake and throttle body. Am I wasting my money if I try to go with a cam that is a step up from stock? Also will I loose bottom end torque in doing this? I would also like to still be able to go back to the stock chip if I sell the car.

Also what modifications if any are required when changing to a non-stock cam.

Thanks

The TPI intake was designed for a 305ci engine, thats our super major mega huge restriction. :) A cam a step up or two may still be fine and be even more beneficial down the road if you decide to port the plenum and intake a bit. :)

If you dont plan on changing the intake a cam will give you nothing, just as your hypercrap chip gives nothing. You should port the intake (at the least) and heads then change the cam, then get a new chip to use it.

The LPE SuperRam-AFR190-LPE #74219 cam combo seems to be a proven/popular power builder...

So is that an intake and cam combination?
