OK,
I was out running the car dialing in the suspension adjustments, when lo and behold, exiting a hard right 90 bend, I came off the throttle, downshift braked, and hammered it coming out...fuel pressure hit zero, car sputtered, backfired, fuel pressure resumed when the car straightened, and left 2 black streaks like you wouldn't believe on the pavement...what's going on? fuel pressure is at 36psi idle, 1/2 tank of gas, spark plugs are new, fuel filter is new...can it be the fuel pump? some incredible oversight? or am I experiencing something more complex and expensive? It felt like it just ran outta gas, then hit hard...like it should...I'm perplexed! Car runs GREAT otherwise.
Re: HELP!!!! Fuel pressure loss while cornering!!! (TNTC4VETTE)
I had a similar condition in an 84. I was told 84-85s lacked a baffle in the tank causing the fuel to slosh around. BUT your car is too new and 1/2 tank of gas is plenty to cover pick-up even if sloshing around. You could check the connector for the pump. That is strange. Good luck with it. :seeya
Re: HELP!!!! Fuel pressure loss while cornering!!! (TNTC4VETTE)
I have seen this problem on my '93 when accelerating around corners. I have one corner that I take that will always do it if the gas is low, but on a full tank it never happens. My Electronic gas gage is way off it takes about half the tank to get the gage to read 3/4 and when there's about 1/4 left it'll read 1/2 and with a 20 gal tank there's a lot of room for a 1/4 tank to splash around in a had corner.

OK, let me expound on this a bit...I had just put 10 gallons of Mobil 93 oct. in the tank, and ran it before and after an oil change. Tried adjusting the FPR, but of course, it won't work if there's no fuel in the line...I know it's not bad fuel, because it would act the same, turning or not. I'm completelt at a loss here, and I have an autocross coming up within the next couple of weeks.
Re: HELP!!!! Fuel pressure loss while cornering!!! (TNTC4VETTE)
When my feul pump went, the only way i could get it to stumble was by dropping the hood from about 6" or so. It had me baffled for a couple of weeks before i replaced it. Not a problem since.
Re: HELP!!!! Fuel pressure loss while cornering!!! (TNTC4VETTE)
We autocross our '89 quite a bit, and we see a lot of C-4's with this problem,
if you keep the tank full it won't happen, it only happens when the tank is
half full or less. We never let our car get under the 3/4 mark.
We carry 20 gallons of fuek and a spare fuel pump, it only takes about 30 minutes to change.
Keeping the tank full also keeps the fuel from shifting in a corner and makes the
car more stable and puts more weight on the rear tires.

Hey guys,
Thanks to everyone who replied...I'll get cracking on a new fuel pump and let you all know how things go...with 90k on the car, I'm quite sure it will need one sooner or later, so why not sooner?
