Default Gathering parts......

For a Dana 44 swap for my '96.

Is the C-Beam for a 44 the same length/ bolts spacing etc, etc for the auto and manual transmission. IOW do I need to find one for a auto tranny?

Also, will I need different half shafts?

I've read my drive shaft will work but it's tight. Like the C-Beam are there different drive shafts for manuals and autos?

The beam / DS length differences relate to the diff installed; not the trans so there are only 2 types .D36 and D44
But in C4's, the D44 only came with a man , so one could correctly call it a "manual " beam and the D36 a "auto" beam; even though all the trans have the C beam bolt holes in the same position relative to the car.
The one consideration is if you get a D44 DS from a late car with ZF6 ; you have to change the yoke for a regular GM 27 spline unit to suit the 4L60/T700/4L60E

No; only thing that gets swapped is the batwing and head assembly ,the beam if you choose not to redrill the D36 one and the DS should you replace for correct one

Ski dwn it has a good write up about the swap in tech tips. I used it for my swap

ski dwn it write up

Only lesson I learned was the need to set shift points. I knew tranny was computer controlled so I input the new gear ratio and tire size into the tune. Completed the mechanical install and drove around a while, and the speedometer read correctly and everything was fine until I went WOT and it was bouncing off if the rev limiter

It was kind of hot at times.
I learned an awful lot though thanks to you and many others on here. One of the biggest things I learned was to slow down some.

Yes he did. I'm thinking I'm going to get a set of his beam plates to compliment the 44.
