Default clutch fluid and master

What is the littel black rubber cup in the MC for the clutch? Is that the filter that is mentioned on the cap? My clutch was really low pressure wise, so I checked and the reservor was really low, so added some fluid, not much to fill up. Even after I pumped clutch a lot, and the pressure came back, the fluid didn't go down much so I couldn't out the cup back in, is that a big problem? Is it supposed to be solid side down like a drinking glass, or is the solid side supposed to be on top near the cap?

Yes.

The reservoir holds so little fluid it is hard not to overfill.

ok thanks. I guess I will check it in a while and try to put the filter back in.
I don't know where it is leaking, but seems to be very slow and happens when it gets really cold for a while, at least than is when I noticed it this year and last.

There is a full mark on the reservoir, anything above that line and fluid will squeeze out when you reinstall the baffle and tighten the cap.

If I remember correctly there is a hole in the cap and if the baffle isn't used contaminents will enter the res.

Your right, but why is there a whole at all? The fluid is hygroscopic, so why let air in?

Seems like I read the hole is there because the clutch master is self-bleeding.
