Default 95 fx3 shocks

I have a 95 with the fx3 adjustable shocks. As the time has come to replace shocks I would like to put on standard shocks. I could care less about the adjustable and want to know if standard shocks will bolt right in.

There will be no SYS light. The only light that will come on is the SRC Light (Service Ride Control). The FX3 controller is located in the compartment behind the driver's seat. It's held down with a screw that has to be removed to open the lid. Pull the harness connector from the controller and the SRC light should go out. The module sits to the left of the ABS unit and faces forward. The connector is on the back side.

Why do you not care about the FX3 system? When it's operating properly, it's a good system and does improve handling. Bilstein can rebuild the shocks for a reasonable price.

But if you do remove it, it would be a good idea to save all the components including the shock actuators. When you disconnect the wiring from the actuator, tape the ends and use a wire tie to hold them in place. This is especially important with the rear wiring. The rear harness ends can fall down into the frame and it will very difficult to fish them out if you or another owner wnats to re0install the FX3 stuff.

I suppose he could fix it last the last owner of mine then. Remove the bulb.

IIRC, it is about $100 a shock, give or take. I decided to buy new because I wanted a lifetime warranty.

Good ideas.

To the OP, if you need to replace the shock bushings, give me a PM. I have an extra set of bushings because I didn't know they came 2 to a pack. Bought 4 and needed 2 only.

Yes, std shocks will bolt right in but... I fully agree with c4cruiser, it is a good system - keep it.

Many people think it is just those 3 positions on the switch. Not true - within each position the system adjust the shocks depending on your speed. Here is a good article about it http://corvetteactioncenter.com/tech/c4/fx3/index.html

Keep your C4 the way it should be

Another vote for rebuilding. The OEM system is very good, and for $100/corner, it's really hard to match the performance for the price. You could get something almost as good for a little less, but why?

Seriously, $100/each for the rebuild? Is that from Bilstein, or some third party? I thought it was closer to $250. I'll have to look again, mine are due for a rebuild or replacement and I was considering going to aftermarket adjustables but if I can keep the FX3 for under $500, I'll probably go that route.
