Well im new to this thread obviously. and i come in sorrow, my vette was broken into at 4pm on day i know it was 4pm because of various reasons. my alarm had just went out last week too v_v well they broke my driver side window pulled off my dash face where the stereo goes and yes took my stereo wasnt nothing fancy see i bought my car of the street for 3,500 about a year later it was back on track i had compleatly restored my car from my trany all the way to the sparkplugs. well luckly my line of work is body work so i started on my own car right away. The driver window, body work, paint (jet black/extra clear) and dash have all been repaired and replaced im currently buffing my car now.Tommarrow i actually might finish, thing is i dont have any stereo what so ever. im looking for a double din navigation system with cd/mp3 player that would fit in my c4 its a automatic im looking up eclipse and pianeer so far but im unsure if it will fit my cars size. also my headlights r doing this weird "winking" thing where only one light makes it all the way up well the other is strugling to even flip back around believe me when i say its embarrasing to be is a cherry clean black corvette with "winking" lights. a reply will be greatly apreciated thank you.
A few months ago I ripped out the Blose system and replaced it with a Kenwood DNX6140 system. It has a Garmin Nav, and fit in the double din slot. I found that I did have dremmel out the rear of the plastic box inside the dash (not visible) to get all the wiring to fit in there. I also found that using 6.25" speakers up front instead of 5.25 makes a big difference. I am very happy with this setup. The only complaints I have about it is that the memory function that stores the unit's configuration to NVRAM does not store the radio stations. So when you restore the configuration after disconnecting your battery you get everything back except the radio stations. Oh more thing - I ordered the HD FM tuner for this thing and found that when you connect it, the power antenna will not raise. So I sent it back and they refunded the $ for the HD tuner. Seems to be a known problem. Other than that, I recommend it very highly.
I would go play with the navigation system in the shop selling it. They let me play around with a couple types for a while by myself. I found I didn't like how some of the systems operated. Try them yourself. Good Luck Tim
