I'v tried a couple types of exhaust paint on my pipes and they all come off ay the benb in the pipes in the rear, anyone know of a paint that stays on? bty they were all cleaned up before painting.
yup!
go to Checker/O'reilly's and buy caliper paint.
I painted my complete exhaust prior to installing it in the car, and it only burned off the cat, but stayed on cat heat shield.
unfortunately, it only comes in silver, red, black, and blue.
The red is an off color, and has too much black in it, but it is pretty tuff stuff.
P.S.
It may also come in white in a well stocked store.
I painted my exhaust silver.........
if you want 'pretty', use a hi-temp paint, wirebrush and recoat every year...if you want 'no rust' (yearly job also) and black pipes (usually, depends on lube, do a 'sample'): wipe on a LIGHT coat of rear end lube on the pipes, drive it a half hour, park outdoors till cool (big stinky )
IIRC, using 'castroil' rear lube brought the neighbors out with plates/forks
Kinda off topic but did anyone see the pic of the polished stock exhaust? I want to see it again (saw it here last week or so) and know what they used! I would rather take it off and polish it up! Looked just as shiny as the B&B exhaust!
Not too long ago we were talking about powder coating the mufflers and exhaust tips and wondering how it would hold up..
