that could be the excellent Bose radio's controller/connections etc and the jack is down there buried in foam.

But in 88 the radio was a stand-alone unit. The early LT1 (92-93) cars had the radio receiver on the right side of the passenger footwell. I think it was 94 when the radio receiver was relocated to the passenger side storage compartment. The head unit was in the center dash.
The jack also moved around. Some years had the jack clipped to the inside of the spare wheel and some had them at the bottom of the passenger side storage compartment and some had them on the side of the compartment wall.
