I have a complete center section Dana 36 with 3:75 gears. Before I install it I want to replace pinion and differential seals.I dont know if they need to be done but figuere I might as well before install. The problem is parts store doesnt list them because they never came stock with 3:75's.Anybody know what the part numbers may be?thanks
I don't think the gears matter. Go to GMpartsdirect and look up the year of the Dana 36. It should be on the housing. They will have them. Your local dealer will to or he can get them but as you know it's more that way.
NAPA is a good source but most any auto parts store can help you.The rear may NOT be ID'd as a D36 in the aftermarket catalogs so just use "automatic transmission" applications if it's NOT. The pinion seal will be easy to locate, the short axle seals maybe NOT but should be easily ordered for you!
Here's some GM/Dana references for you:
Short axle seals: GM 14079467 Dana/Spicer 706875X you need -2
Pinion seal: GM 10012635 Dana/Spicer 41455 you need -1
You could ask the auto parts store to cross reference those if you need.
You might want to consider a new pinion nut while there!

Ok, I dug through my box of receipts (believe me it's a lot of receipts) and found these numbers for you. I did my Dana 36 seals a while back. I got these from a local dealer.
(1) Pinion...........10112635 GM part number $31.54
(2) axle............. 14079467 GM part number $13.94 ea
Remember, 2 bottles of Limited Slip first then fill up with the gear oil.
