Default Frizbee checked on beam scale

Took the frisbee off my 90 & to my supprise it was much lighter than the 8# or 10# weight that I had read about in a number of posts.

It scaled @ 3.5 lbs.

Perhaps the original owner changed it or did GM install lighter weight units on some model years.

Just curious.

It is possible that
1. scale is wrong
2. people exaggerate
3. They had different weights.

I'm thinking it is one of the first 2.

I never weighed mine, but I'd bet money it's closer to 4lbs than 8 or 10. (I took it off during tear down. Haven't decided on reusing it yet or not.)

For 3.5lbs, it's probably better left on for it's purpose. Do you think GM would have actually spent good money for something not really necessary?

It was suppose to be a dampener for the A/C system, so when you turn on the air conditioning you wouldn't feel a (bump) everytime the compressor kicked on..I removed mine and have noticed no difference in the air conditioner, some say they do..I figure if nothing else leaving it on has to help wear out the pump bearings faster..WW

Yep it's 3.5 lbs. Check the sticky thread in gen. The early frisbee is larger then the later model.
