Over the past two weeks my father and I installed a 383 in my roommates '86 Z51 coupe. We installed a set of 642 iron 2.02 heads, summit cam, 1 5/8 headrs and a ported and polished TPI (he couldn't afford the Super Ram at the time). He has NO willpower from nailing it before brakein so I'm doing it. Wouldn't you know it a '01 Camaro SS paced to me today and I didn't run, it took everything I had not to. :yesnod:
Ed Wright burned the chip and a great chip it is. She sounds mean, can't wait til breakin is over! :D
I'll keep you all posted.
What does the torque feel like from the RPM's you could get out of it? I am really regretting not stroking when I had the chance. Gonna drop my tranny tomorrow for clutch work, I got a SuperRam too. The intake will be off. I am like "this close" to taking the long block out and re-doing to 383 now that I have the SR.
Paul, I haven't given her more than 1/2 throttle as of yet, but I can tell there more power than the 350. I have The Super Ram, intake and 58mm TB on my 91, and it made a HUGE difference and I only have a 350. I'm sure you'll love the Super Ram. I'll let you know how she runs full throttle in a couple days.
