What is the highest minimum clearance that will fit under a stock Corvette? I'm considering buying a heavy duty 3 1/2 ton floor jack that has the lowest setting at 5". Thanks for any help.
Check what the height of the jack is without the round plate installed. I routinely use my 3 1/2 tonner to jack my vette up; (very carefully) with the plate removed. I first raise the entire front end under the main cross-member in front of the engine followed by 6 ton jack stands, then at the jack points just in front of the rear tires on the sheet metal lip. Works great this way and reduces scratching, etc.
I have to drive up on bricks to get my 3 ton jack under the car. Thats just fine and dandy, assuming the reason you need to jack it up isn't because the car isn't running. :smash:
I've never seen a decent jack that will fit under at C4, unfortunately.
I just ordered a Lincoln Pro4000 from Sears that they claim has
a minimum height on 4 and a quarter inches and maximum lift of
20 inches.....I'm hoping that it will clear without having to drive
up on boards.
