Yes, I'm actually getting into the motor and rebuild it.
Is there something special that I need to do, or something that I need to look out for when removing the hood?
I'm thinking about storeing the hood by hanging it from the rafters in my garage. Is this OK? This sounds better than laying it on it's side or on the floor in the way.
If this helps, you dont always need to remove the hood for an engine pull.I pulled the motor twice in my 86 and never removed the hood.Reinstalled with the hood there.
I used the engine crane and slid in from the side..its a little tight but doable. You need to have the car on jack stands and remove the front tires to slide the crane in from the side.
If youre set on removing the hood, mark or scribe around where every bolt goes with a crayon or touch up paint so on reinstall it can align up just about where you removed it.Yes the hood removal makes it easier but isnt necessary.
So if you decide to remove it,If you can hang it safely, thats cool, if not stand/set it up somewhere flat or against a wall where it will be safe and no one can touch or move it.

This is what I did. It was very comfortable with the hood OFF. It stood in the corner for like a year and a half. I did chip the paint on the nose. Masking tape it up+cushion it.
'89 Paul, was it a pain to realine the bolts? I understand that there's wedges that need to go back in. Did you have any problems with them?
By the way, I bet you had some great driving weather last week down there!
