Default 87 ecm into an 85?

has anyone ever changed there ecm to a newer one?ive heard 86 and newer are faster in processing engine info,and it eliminates the maf burn off module.any info on procedure wud be great.

I wrote this page up a while ago for my '85 Z28, most of the info will carry over to the vette.

Bypassing the MAF years and jumping right to a speed density '90-'91 would be a better choice. Vette's have to deal with the dash computer though so keeping the stock ECM to run it in parallel is an option.

Thanks.. Still around.. Only on here for the past few years, but still over on TGO and LS1TECH.. Into T56's now.. Still doing TPI ecms whenever possible too..

are u the guy that went to a map and a maf to show efficiency for a grade?? I have your handiwork in my desk at home, and in the car, and in a notebook at work.

Yup, thanks.. I built an interface harness to let me swap between MAF and MAP at the track for back-to-back comparison.
