I just bought a complete rear end for a project I'm involved in, and I did not know GM made a C4 rear that was not posi? My 86' is a Dana 44 and I've had that apart a few times to change gears. I've seen the spring between the side gears that make it posi. Is the rear I bought a non-posi unit or did someone remove the spring? I'm guessing it's a Dana 36, I have not looked at it closely. for that matter, I believe all Corvettes since the beginning (all years) are equipped w/posi-traction......someone correct me if I am wrong......would be interesting to see if I am wrong!
i think gm installed what they called an economy axle,if i remember corectly.the productin numbers were very low.i read this info in a c4 corvette facts article.
Dana 36 non-posi?
