mind went blank on a L98 does the coolant enter the block from top rad.hose or bottom hose

I should think it enters via the bottom hose and exits through the T-stat and the upper hose, else a stuck T-stat could leave the engine w/o coolant. Also the top hose can be above the coolant level.

yea, remember the LT-1 is reverse flow, and the water enters the heads first to keep em cool so they can run more timing
