I recently purchased a 1995 coupe and the seller had lost the remote for the PKE system. I have ordered a new remote but here is my problem. When I open the door, I hear a loud rapid clicking sound that sounds like it is coming from uder the dash. While this clicking continues, the interior lights remain off, and the car will not engage the starter. This clicking lasts from a few seconds to a few minutes.
As soon as the clicking stops, the interior lights come on and the starter will engage. I suspect this condition may be alarm related. Any suggestions?

No aftermarket alarm. all factory items. I received the remote this afternoon and after programming it for the PKE, I hear the same clicking sound when approaching the car just before the doors open and the interior lights come on. Again the time to open the doors
and turn on the interior lights varies from almost instantly to several seconds delay. I suspect the PKE relay is not working properly. What do you think?
