Other than rusted fuel tank sending unit bolts, what problems would a torn rubber thigy cause?
I have a fuel pressure issue and I'm just wondering if the filter is plugged up some. It's less than a year old though and so is the pump. The FP goes to 42 when I turn the switch on then falls immediately to 40. If I crank the car, which sometimes is difficult it goes down to about 35 at idle. If I don't crank the car and just cut off the switch it falls down to 36 or so in about 10 min. not good. I've had three different regulars on there and I guess maybe the one that's on there now is gone. Either that or a new injector is leaking, which I doubt. The injectors are new FMS 30# Red Tops. I was just going to go back and make sure the tank wasn't leaking and the filter was plugged up or something. Need a new gasket there anyway.
What I think was killing my regulators is this......
When I did this cam swap I broke the little hard vacuum hose that goes to the regulator. I asked on here if it was ok to run just a soft piece o regular vac hose and I was told it was. So that is what I did. I believe the larger dia. hose makes the regular or get more vacuum and is destroying the diagram in the regulator. I spliced the OE hose together and it's on there now but the larger hose was on this current regulator for a while so I guess it's bad now because the vac hose reeks of gas. Seems I'm just doomed with this car..........
I dont know how ripped it is, but I used super-glue on mine and it works great... Looks like new after a soak in some armorall! Give it a try, I used lock-tight super-glue (blue and silver container) its the best glue I have ever used.
I checked with Corvette America and couldn't fine one listed; hope you have good luck with ZIP...
Sounds about normal to me, though 35psi would be a tad low for my needs.
The ECM is set up to operate in closed loop at the lower pressure; at WOT vacuum drops to (near) zero so you get adequate flow when needed.
Something is causing this hard start issue and I'm clueless as to what it might be if it's not the regulator or fuel filter. It only does it after it has sat overnight. Any other time it fires right up.
With the fuel pressure dropping so fast when I cut it off isn't that a sign of a bad regulator? It should hold good pressure for quite some time shouldn't it?

Mike, you can use soft hose on the regulator , I know of quite a few that have done it including myself. As a matter of fact almost all my hoses have been replaced with soft hose years ago .The inside diameter of the soft hose should be about the same size and it won't hurt anything if its not exactly the same. Fuel pressure dropping fast could also be an injector, or injectors leaking down....WW

Okay, then what is killing these regulators if it isn't vacuum?
