Default How to remove C68 programer on 90 l98 mt

Need help removing the A/C programer to futhur diagnose my A/C Problem. I Know the location, I just can not physically remove the vacuum connector and the elecrical connector. No matter wich way I turn, wiggle, or pull the programmer box to try to gain access to the electrical connector, the vacuum connector is limiting me. The factory service manuel states to remove the nut in the center, problem is I don't have a nut. Instead I have a speed nut or a one-way slip on retainer to hold the vacuum connector in place= cannot remove from out side. IS there a way around this? the backing of the box is card board, thinking I can maybe unscrew from behind? Either way I cannot get the programmer past the steering colum

The reason i'm atacking the programer is because I have EVERY code in the book and then some not listed in the FSM, Not joking. Here's the kicker, I still have some control, all vents/speed but no hot and cold (low refrigerant I know about) as well as some intermiten inop w/ defroster fan pegged at full speed, no control, blank screen
Any Help will be greatly appreciated.

*UPDATE* finally got the programmer out after about 2 hours of cussing and swearing while being cramed under the dash. So far I have pulled both programmer and controller head abart to inspect for any burned/damaged components. It is just my luck that there is nothing obviously burned or damaged. I then cleaned every connector and every solder joint that could have a possible bridge. Hoping for the best I put it all back together hoping that just maybe I have accomplished something.....only to find out all the codes that I have previously recorded are back

This brings me to my next question: How do I know what DTC are set and not using the parameter check function? (Am I confusing parameter check list with DTC being set?)

Every "key on" I get the flashing "auto" LED. I'm asking this because I have every code in the FSM and more than what the FSM list. When ever I check codes the first thing to show up is "-00" if I then push "up" or "Down" this is where I can cycle though the long list of codes and if I push "auto" it gives me the parameter value.

Any clarity on this subject please post ASAP!
Thanks
