Flywheel Weight - how much
So, how light can I go? (Please, don't say aluminium, I autocross in NCCC, and aluminium flywheels are a no-no) I want to run a billet steel flywheel, and have notice all kinds of different weights. Recommendations? Warnings? (myths/wife's tales??)
Thanks-
I'm using a SPEC Stage 3 plus clutch SC423YF and a SPEC billet steel flywheel.
The question is which flywheel should I use? I was shipped SC85S, which they list for LT1 F-body cars; while their catalogue lists SC05S as the flywheel for a 96 LT4 corvette. I have just emailed them on this point.
Not having seen an aluminum flyheel or minature circle track flywheel, I can say this is the lightest looking small block flywheel I've ever seen.
Don't have the clutch apart yet for a side by side comparison, but, depending on who you ask, it's supposed to be 8 to 12 pounds lighter than the stock dual mass flywheel. We'll see.
Out of curiosity, please post whatever you go with and let us know how it works out for you.

I'm assuming the Spec flywheel is already shaved as you have to shave the GM flywheel .020.
