went to change my rearend grease and noticed the drain plug is not all the way in but it is tight, took it off cleaned the threads and still only goes in a little more than half the way. Is this normal?
C4 diffs never had a separate drain plug. Gear oil has to be sucked out through the fill plug hole.
The accessory catalogs used to have a drain plug kit that required drilling a hole in the bottom of the carrier but you had to be real careful where you drilled. If you weren't nearly perfect in measuring, you could hit the ring gear or not be able to get the plug inserted far enough to seal properly.
