Default Using LT4 heads on an L98 ???

I have the opportunity to get new LT4 heads dirt cheap, so I need some of the wise forum members to please advise me on what else I would need to change if I mounted them on an L98 (if that's a realistic possibility).

Thanks :)

I thought LT1 guys cant use LT4 stuff.....I thought the intake manifold and heads were a little different (ports).....or was it one of those if you go with one, you have to have both?

HC,

LT4 heads will not work on a L98 due to the fact that they are designed for the LT style reverse flow cooling. There are no crossover water passages on LT1 or LT4 heads, so do not attempt to install them on your L98. Sell them to a LT buyer if you can get them cheap.

true but do you know how cheap LT4 manifolds are? if i were him & was planning on doing another engine i'd buy a LT-1 block, LT-4 manifold and a 92-93 computer & plug in the car, you have a few minor wire issues and your set with a much better manifold design than the L98. i however favor a distributor over the optispark..just my .02

Buy the fast burn heads...LT4 heads, for the standard SBC. The heads would have to be extensively modified for use with standard cooling passages, and by the time he got all the stuff for the LT1 conversion (block, engine internals, wiring harness, computer, etc), he would have been able to purchase the fast burn heads, port them, and add a supercharger, while passing the LT4 engined car sideways. Sell the heads at a profit, and you will be good to go.

Thank you all for your quick input and advice.

If I get them then I guess I'll just have to sell or trade them.
