Default LT1 Conversion question

For those that have done the LT1 conversion on a Gen 1 engine, where did you locate the air temp sensor? Tried a search, and keep coming up with either the intake ducting(I will be using a clamp-on KN filter for the time being, so no ducting) or "stock location". Sort of narrows my choices down to the manifold itself.....

I'm very interested in this as well, I will be doing the same mod to my car after I get a few things checked out.

mine is in the center top vac hole...i enlarged the hole and tapped for the IAT thread, IIRC the vac holes in the manifold are all 1/4 NPT and the tPi IAT sensor is 3/8 NPT...some others use a 1/4 NPT close nipple and a 1/4 NPTx3/8NPT reducer coupling.

note that tPi manifolds use a 'shielded' element/threaded body IAT sensor while the LT1 used the 'typ' Gm open element 'push-in' sensor that is inserted into a rubber holder...to reduce potential vac leakage and potential idle speed problems (toyota?) the threaded type sensor should be used whenever the IAT is located downstream from the throttle plate.

Thanks redrose, exactly the info I needed

I have the TPI threaded type, and will just drill & tap a hole on the pass side of the manifold since that is where my wiring is at

Thanks again!
