Default Pay Cheap Prices, Get Cheap Stuff

Why don't I ask here first? You see something for a good price, and you get cheap crap. Mid America (Performance Choice) muffler eliminators are just that. I bought the chrome version of the LT1 style tipped Elims. Man was I let down by this choice and MADVET.

First of all they are three inches to long, without being cut and re-welded they look like two toasters sticking out of the back of my 93.

Second, they are crooked once installed, looks like they have too much toe in.

Third, They are cheaply made. The LT1 tip box they put on is just a flat sheet of low quality stainless made into a square then welded onto the pipes. No back or roll over edge, you can see right through them. The clamps they send with them strip out on the first try. Not good!:mad

They are stright pipes, (2 pieces, tip and tube) no baffles, (That's a good thing) The sound is much better, but I could have have my muffler guy fab this up in 20 minutes with nicer looking tips for about $75 bucks. (Found that out once he saw them) He got a good chuckle when he saw the tips too.

Anyway I like the sound, and messed with the clamps and made them look reasonable. So I will run them until they rust out, (probably won't be too long)

My advice, find a good muffler shop, have them make your elims, or pay the extra bucks for a good set, other than "Performance Choice".

Sounds like a cheap bunch of cr-p. The only good thing about MAD is they will take it all back. I ran a set of Borlas w/LT-1 tips for about 400 miles and was not happy with the look. They replaced them with the Borla's equipped with ZR-1 tips without question.....and the first set had been welded on that I returned. So I sure would give them a call and make them make you happy one way or the other. :smash:

Well that's good to know, if they don't hold together they will be getting them back. It's just too bad that a company like MAD sells low quality for such a high class car.

My fault for being cheap. Although the 93 has been getting some serious $$ pumped into her. That's about all I had left. :flag

:cry

Those are exactly what I was thinking about getting too. Oh well. Guess I'll have to find some tips somewhere and have some fabbed up at the muffler shop.

I got my muffler eliminators from MAD, I got the ones that have the exact LT1 tips(black). The sound was great and I could have saved money going to a local shop. One thing you have to watch and I recommend. Weld everything, they will vibrate loose. I broke three hangers on the pass side either due to hard launching or vibration.
I had the drivers side welded because it kept coming loose. The other night when I was removing the exhausy I realized what that rattling vibration was. The welded pipe had broken the weld and I just slipped the pipe off without loosening the clamp.
Well anyway, my new Corsa system is in place, it's a lot quieter at idle but when you hit it, the car screams. I recommend Corsa and they look awesome.
