I'm back and back with a clunk
After many months of not being able to post I am back. I am back also with a new clunk in my 85 Z51. This started after I had new wheel bearings (rear) put in the car. As soon as i backed out of the shop it made one clunk and did not do it again until I got off the highway and came to a quick stop. I can make the clunk noise (you can feel it also) my coming to a quick stop (most of the time). I wonder if the mechanic damaged something when he changed the bearings, He said he knew a short cut and changed the bearings in about 45 minutes. There is still play in the rear hub when the car is on jacks. i am thinking it is the bushings on the control rods ( right name ) that might have been compressed or damaged when the bearings were replaced. Anyone have this problem?

I have read about this problem in other posts. A common problem is that the half shaft spindle isn't in the hub right. When the hub was off, a wire brush should be used to clean the spindle before installing the new hub. Maybe the spindle nut wasn't torqued properly. Do a search on the forum and you can find the other posts on this problem.
