Based on the forum recommendations, I'm going with a FASTCHIP and lower thermostat to keep the Corvette cooler in the heavy traffic. I have contacted Ed and am ready to go. He needs the letters off the chip. I understand the chip is under the passenger dash, but exactly where I don't know.
Could anyone tell me where it is (and any removal hints) so I can call Ed?
I have only upgraded older/lower technology cars (65 vette, 70 chevelle), I would be out of the water without this forum!
On my 92, the computer is under the hood, black box right above the battery. THe 93 might be aluminum instead of black. And my 4 letter code was on the 'outside' of the box. I didn't have to remove it to get the code, it was right on top. BTW, my code was 'AZUM'. Ed's chip will have instructions on how to install it.
The box is located as indicated above. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Remove the three nuts that hold the box in the frame. Do not disconnect any wires or plugs. Turn the box over and you will find an access cover with 4 screws holding it into place. Remove the cover and you will see the chip. It is similar to a SIMM chip in your computer, but much fatter. The original color might be light blue. There are 2 clips, one on each end. Push down on the clips and the chip will lift out of the socket.
The new chip you get might resemble the one you took out exactly. Others are configured in a piggy-back fashion. My chip is a Performance Resource chip and it looks exactly like the factory original. I am more than satisfied with my chip. It meets all of my expectations.
