Default Advise on backup light replacement

I posted a few days ago about the location of my backup light switch for a 92 6-speed. I was able to get a 3/4 " box wrench on it and was able to loosen it up. Will I be able to remove it and replace it without removing the hydraulic clutch slave cylinder? I already jumpered the switch and my backup light did come on so now, at least before I spend the $50 for a replacement, it will be money well spent. I also remember someone telling me in an old posting that the #1156 backup bulbs can be replaced with a much brighter version so I would also need any info on that.
Thanks

I did it without removing the slave cylinder. However, a recent article in Corvette Fever suggests removing it. Good luck either way you do it. The hardest part is trying to thread the new switch in there. It just takes patience, lots of patience.
